About James Rioux, CTM

A lot of people seem intrigued when I tell them that I am a scientist by nature, a computer programmer by trade, a Tarot reader in my spare time and a writer whenever I get the chance. Perhaps they are used to people who can be summed up in one or two words - but to me such people are boring and one-sided. In my opinion, a life well lived is one that expresses balance and completion, and I'd like to think that I'm doing a good job in that area.

I live in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada, where I attend the University of New Brunswick. I'm starting my third year of a program that will eventually leave me with degrees in quantum physics and software engineering. As you have probably noticed, I am also a Certified Tarot Master; I have been working with the Tarot cards for almost three years now, and I've written many articles and taught a number of students. I'm currently working on a pair of Tarot-related books.

I am, incidentally, the youngest person in the world to hold the rank of CTM - I'm 19 years old. This is something else that surprises a lot of people, since they naturally assume that any person who calls himself a Master must be old and gray-haired. But as my colleagues will attest, few stereotypes apply to me. (My more spiritual friends call me an "old soul", those of you who believe in reincarnation will know what this means.)

Aside from Tarot and my studies, I am actively involved in my local church, where I am a lector. The concept of a Catholic Tarot reader is yet another surprise - I'm just full of them! - but this is easily explained by the fact that I'm a much more liberal Catholic than most. Perhaps someday in my writings section you will find some of my personal views on my religion and its dogma - you'll find that it is through my writing that you can really understand the confusing soul that calls itself James Rioux.
