Cry

We could have been best of friends
If not for all my faults.
My life was raging all around
I had no time to halt,
To let you know how much I cared,
How your love let me fly.
On that day you cried to me
And I could not reply.

I know it must have pained you
To find your call unheard.
If I had known I could have helped
With but a single word
I would have, but I did not see
That things had gone awry.
On that day you cried to me
And I could not reply.

With time the storm had faded
And my burdens did subside.
But I ignored my sacred duty;
I chose instead to hide
From the cruel world around me
As hard as I could try.
On that day you cried to me
And I did not reply.

Now your voice falls silent;
The joy we had is gone.
I cannot try to make it right
This battle can't be won.
And as I see my grave mistake
A hot tear clouds my eye.
On this day I cried to you
And you did not reply.
